of Minaret of Mir Masoom Shah -the iconic landmark of Sukkur. Mir Masoom Shah was a trusted lieutenant of Mughal emperor Akbar who led a battle in Baluchistan with conquering and making Sibi and northwest of Quetta part of the Mughal empire. He was subsequntly appointed governor of Sindh and Sibi. Mir Masoom Shah was historian, physician and pharmacist and had to his credit a book on the history of Sindh with the title "Tarikh-e-Sindh".
