tan Abdal was a Turkish folk poet and Alevi-Bektashi philosopher. Although the exact time period in which he lived is not known, it is estimated that he lived in the late 16th or early 17th century. The birthplace of Pir Sultan Abdal is also not known for certain, but it is believed to be located in Sivas. Pir Sultan Abdal is considered an important representative of the Alevi-Bektashi tradition and his poems reflect the teachings of this tradition. His poems deal with social criticism, opposition to injustice and human relationships. In addition, themes such as nature, love and beauty are also frequently present in his poems. Pir Sultan Abdal was arrested and executed for his opposition to the oppressive practices of the Ottoman administration. However, his poems are still popularly read and he is remembered as an important figure in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition.
