rovince, Zhangye City, Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Area, with a total area of 50 square kilometers, is the most typical Danxia landform developed in the arid regions of northern China. It is the only area in China where Danxia landform and colorful hilly landscape are highly combined. The Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Area mainly develops from the "red layer" of the Cretaceous period (1.35 billion to 65 million years ago), formed through the erosion of water and wind. On September 25, 2015, the Zhangye National Geopark (Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Area) opened to the public. The Zhangye Colorful Danxia Tourist Area has titles such as "The Seven Most Beautiful Danxia in China" and "The World's Ten Most Amazing Geographical Wonders". On August 2, 2010, it was successfully included in the "World Heritage List"; in 2011, Zhangye Danxia was rated as one of the "World's 10 Most Amazing Geographical Wonders" by the American "National Geographic Magazine"; in 2019, the Zhangye Colorful Danxia Tourist Area became a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
