an Ruins, located on the southeastern edge of the Taklamakan Desert in Ruoqiang County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, were an important military, religious, and transportation hub on the southern route of the ancient Silk Road. The site once served as a military fortress with beacon towers and barracks, controlling the security of the southern route through the Western Regions. Miran is renowned for its rich Buddhist cultural relics, including temples, stupas, and murals, showcasing the spread of Buddhism along the Silk Road. Artifacts unearthed at the site, such as documents in multiple scripts, silk products, and pottery, reflect Miran's role as a cultural exchange center closely connected with Central China, the Western Regions, and Central Asia. Once a flourishing oasis, the site gradually became engulfed by the desert due to environmental changes. Today, it is a significant archaeological site for studying the history of the Western Regions, the spread of Buddhism, and Silk Road culture.
