us Agapostemon is a common group of sweat bees, most of which are known as metallic green sweat bees for their color. They are generally green or blue, especially the head and thorax. These bees belong to four different genera within the Halictidae family (Agapostemon, Augochlora, Augochlorella, and Augochloropsis). Mint (Mentha genus) is specifically identifiable by its square stems, aromatic leaves, and spikes of small flowers. The plant features bold spikes of tubular white to lilac-colored flowers that rise above its green, fragrant, oval-shaped leaves during the late summer. The white flower spikes are highly attractive to bees and other insects, serving as a food source.
