Agents briefly question drivers about citizenship and immigration status, using technology like K-9s and vehicle inspections. These are interior control points, not the border itself, serving as a layer of defense to stop illegal crossings and smuggling further into the U.S., often in the Rio Grande Valley. A long line of semi-trucks are backed up because of the checkpoint.
